Kerry Spencer 鈥�25 appreciates how Bank of America鈥檚 Global Operations Development Summer Analyst Program helped her grow professionally.
With a passion for technology, Kerry Spencer 鈥�25 zeroed in on the opportunities presented by Bank of America鈥檚 Global Operations Development Summer Analyst Program. She learned about the program through a friend at the (iSchool) who had previously interned there. An information management and technology major, Spencer last August. During winter break, she went through a series of interviews鈥攊ncluding a virtual one in which she recorded herself answering questions and then back-to-back phone interviews鈥攁nd received an offer. 鈥淥nce I got back to campus, I utilized my connections with the people I knew who had previously and was able to learn more about the company culture and the program itself before I started in June,鈥� she says.
With this information and the skills she鈥檇 acquired in her iSchool classes, Spencer felt well prepared for the internship. 鈥淭he aspect of my internship that I enjoyed the most was the fact that I was able to apply the knowledge from my classes to a real professional setting,鈥� she says. 鈥淢y iSchool classes in a variety of topics, from project management to data analytics, allowed me to come to my internship with the knowledge I needed to be successful.鈥�
The program featured an orientation in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Spencer then headed to Jacksonville, Florida, where she was part of the Loan Servicing Operations (LSO) team within the corporation鈥檚 Global Credit, Anti-Money Laundering, and Operations Onboarding section. As an LSO team member, she learned the process for detecting and correcting loan errors for companies that use programs that Bank of America employs. She also appreciated the opportunity to work on assigned projects, meet with colleagues and attend intern events. She further strengthened her leadership, presentation and project management skills and gained teamwork and networking experience. 鈥淎ll these skills combined, both old and new, created an internship experience that was incredibly informative and created a space that made me grow as a future professional,鈥� she says.
Spencer spent her summer in Jacksonville, Florida, with Bank of America鈥檚 Global Credit, Anti-Money Laundering, and Operations Onboarding section.
Being part of a professional workplace setting enhanced Spencer鈥檚 understanding of the value of professional decorum, time management and reaching out for help. She also gained insights on working at a large corporation versus a smaller firm and how she envisions her career unfolding. 鈥淭he experience gave me the ability to see the opportunities I could potentially have after I graduate,鈥� she says. 鈥淚t has given me a lot of confidence when it comes to my future career path.鈥�
